The Best Northeast Florida Beaches for Photos

The coastline around Jacksonville and Northeast Florida is a beautiful place for photos. Whether you are a native Floridian or are vacationing and looking for something really unique, you can find it all here.

Beautiful Beaches Near Jacksonville and St. Augustine

Black Rock Beach

Located at Big Talbot Island, Black Rock Beach is simply stunning. Giant driftwood trees gather along the beach and protrude into the water.

Lava-impersonating black rocks are scattered along the south side of the beach, giving off Hawaii vibes. You can drive there or add a ride on the Mayport Ferry to your trip.

The quarter mile stroll down a wooded trail provides an additional opportunity for photos.

If you can't get into the tiny parking lot, try Boneyard Beach, just up the road which has all the driftwood and a much larger parking area. For your comfort, be sure to pack insect repellant.

Guana Reserve North Beach

As the sun sets behind this beach's giant, green dunes at golden hour, a dreamy light quality is created.

This beach also has beautiful golden sands, deep blue waters, and is easily accessible right off of A1A in Ponte Vedra. There is a boardwalk and lookout platform that provide additional spots for photos.

A short drive south down A1A leads to the GTM Research Reserve where you can find a tree canopy and board walk that sits along the dry grasses of the marsh.

Marineland Beach

A lengthy expanse of rocks gives visitors to the beach at Marineland the impression they have wandered into a mermaid’s grotto. Located in south St. Augustine and just a few minutes from the beautiful gardens at Washington Oaks State Park, the famous coquina rock formations of this beach create a unique and beautiful setting for photos.

Vilano Beach

The jetty at Vilano Beach near St. Augustine is the perfect place for a sunrise photo session!

The jetty is composed of giant rocks that stretch from the beach out into the water. You may have an opportunity for some dramatic splashes behind you as you sit or walk along the rocks.

This beach also has beautiful golden sand and an area near the boardwalk that allows you to create a backdrop of the lush, green dunes.

From Vilano Beach, you can drive over the bridge into historic St. Augustine where you will find endless opportunities for unique photos.

A Word About Tides

Don’t forget…It’s always important to check the tides for the days/times you are planning your photo session. Some of the lovely features of a beach may be covered at high tide.
